Tewodros Abebaw

Teo (Tewodros Abebaw Zeleke), born in -1994 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Contemporary artist based in Saint Petersburg, Russia. PhD Student (Department of Foreign Art), Saint Petersburg Repin Academy of Fine Arts. His artistic journey began to take shape when he enrolled in the talented factory MMET in -2010, where he earned a certificate in painting. This experience solidified his foundation in visual arts and sparked a deeper commitment to pursuing a career in art. He studied painting at Entoto Polytechnic College (Addis Ababa., Ethiopia), and later enrolled in the Repin Academy of Fine Arts (Saint Petersburg, Russia). From 2019/2025, he studied at the church-historical painting workshop under the guidance of the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Academician A.K. Krylov.He earmed his degree with honors and praise from the state examination committee for an outstanding diploma painting "Emperor Menelik The Declaration of the Struggle for Freedom at Adwa in -1896". The painting was shown at an exhibition at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Addis Ababa, as well as at the annual exhibition of the best graduation works by graduates of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. After that, a turning point came: Teo began a series of paintings and graphic works in an original style, which he is currently actively working on. Tewodros's journey as an artist has been shaped by his diverse experiences and cultural background. He has participated in numerous exhibitions, showcasing his work to both local and international audiences. His dedication to his craft reflects his commitment to exploring and expressing his identity through art. Member of the Russian Union of Artists since -2025. Regular participant in the creative expeditions of the Unlimited Russia project (2022/2025).
