born in 1995 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice encompasses painting, drawing, digital art, and photography. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Alle School of Fine Art and Design in 2021, following a diploma from Entoto Polytechnic College in 2016 and a certificate from Abyssinia Fine Art School in 2013.
Ashebir's work critically engages with themes of history, identity, memory, and belonging, examining how individual and collective experiences inform the construction of self and place. He explores urbanization and social structures, creating complex images that reflect on the impact of urban sprawl on culture and identity.
In 2021, he held his first solo exhibition, "Layers of Life," at the Guramayne Art Centre in Addis Ababa. His work has also been featured in various group exhibitions, including "Ties That Bind Us" at The Cowrie Culture Art Gallery in Accra, Ghana, and "ART X Lagos" in Nigeria, both in 2021.
Ashebir was awarded second prize at the Emerging Painting Invitational (EPI) Prize in 2022. He continues to live and work in Addis Ababa, contributing to the contemporary Ethiopian art scene through his dynamic and thought-provoking artworks.
