Nasra Mustofa

Nasra Mustofa is an Ethiopian fashion and accessories designer known for her brand, Precious Design. She began her academic journey studying civil engineering at Addis Ababa University but later pursued her passion for fashion by enrolling at NEXT Fashion Institute, where she graduated with honors. Encouraged by her family, Nasra furthered her studies at the Addis Ababa School of Fine Arts and Design, majoring in fashion design.

As a Muslim woman from a conservative community, Nasra sought to create designs that are both trendy and culturally appropriate. She draws inspiration from Islamic patterns, particularly geometric shapes, and incorporates elements from various cultures, both local and international. Her creative process involves extensive research, sketching, and meticulous execution, with a focus on materials like leather and fabric.
Nasra acknowledges that while Ethiopia's fashion industry is growing, challenges such as limited access to diverse materials and mass production facilities persist. She believes that a design conceptualized, created, and produced locally embodies authentic Ethiopian or African fashion, regardless of specific patterns or motifs used.
Her brand, Precious Design, has been featured in events like the Hub of Africa Fashion Week, showcasing her commitment to blending traditional aesthetics with contemporary fashion.
