Mulu Legesse is a multidisciplinary artist based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, known for her innovative integration of traditional Ethiopian art techniques with contemporary themes. Her upbringing in a large family in Addis Ababa provided her with diverse experiences that have significantly influenced her creative journey.
She received formal training in sculpture at the Ale School of Fine Art and Design, and graduated in 2019, which has profoundly shaped her artistic style. Mulu adeptly navigates various mediums, often drawing inspiration from Ethiopian church iconography to create a unique fusion that resonates both locally and globally.
In her exhibition titled "Netsa," held at Studio 11 in Addis Ababa, Mulu explored themes of motherhood. This exhibition marked a significant milestone as it was the inaugural showcase at Studio 11, a space dedicated to empowering women artists in Ethiopia. Mulu's participation highlighted her commitment to fostering a vibrant art community and supporting emerging talents.
