Adugna Kassa

Client:

Painter

Year:

1978

Adugna Kassa (b. 1978) was born and raised in Ethiopia and naturally expresses the social and cultural sensibilities he acquired in his work. He creates small pieces using everyday media such as faded paper and thin printed matter and collages them on the screen. He uses the lifestyles commonly seen in African common society as motifs to create ideal differentiation. He also suggests invisible African social structures as creative expressions and (semi)abstractly expresses African social organization forms and inner desires, building his own unique paintings.

The artist studied art education at Addis Ababa University Alle School of Fine Arts and Design, Ethiopia. The artist, who lives and works in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Ethiopia (EXISTENCE, Taitu International Art Center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia), (FREEDOM IN LOVE, Addis Ababa City Hall, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia), Korea (Color of Dream, Gallery Hankyung, Seoul, Korea), (Insa 1gil Culture Space, Seoul, Korea), (Gana art center forum space, Seoul, Korea).
