(B.1998) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, his artistic journey began during his adolescence, inspired by his older brother. He studied painting and drawing at the Abyssinia School of Art before enrolling in the Ale School of Fine Arts and Design (ASFAD), where he specialized in printmaking. In 2022, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with the highest honors.
His artwork endeavors to delve into abstract concepts like the subconscious, the ethereal essence of the universe, and the relationship between patterns, textures, and memory. Moreover, his art reflects the complexity of the universe. Birhanu's approach to his craft is explorative, often experimenting with different media such as painting, woodcut, linocut, dry point print, Photography, and most frequently, silkscreen printing. His artistic practice is characterized by continual learning and researching, as he constantly seeks out and investigates new methods to incorporate into his work.
Birhanu has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Ethiopia, Romania, Turkey, and the United States. In 2023/2024, he held his debut solo exhibition, "Remembrance and Reminiscence," at Galleria Tomoca in Addis Ababa. His work has also been featured in publications such as Suboart International Art Magazine and Redeem the Generation.
