Ashenafe Mestika

b. 1987 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is an Ethiopian-based visual artist who received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Addis Ababa University Alle School of Fine Art & Design in 2020, as well as a 10+3 Diploma in fine art, specializing in painting, from Entoto Polytechnic College in 2010.
Ashenafe is mostly interested in painting, drawing, and photography to express his thoughts and experiences. His figurative artworks focused on social-political happenstance and memories. He considers himself a figure enthusiast, and as such, human figures are central to his work; they are the primary subject matter with other elements that he incorporates into his works, and he wants the figures to have their own universe, a space where they can be themselves or as he imagines them to be.
